Workshop Overview
This workshop is unlike anything you have ever experienced before!
The term “Gemba” comes from the Japanese and means “place of action”. The “Gemba Walk” is about managers observing work processes directly on site and talking to their employees. With the “Gemba Hike”, we move the observation and conversation into nature.
Are you familiar with this? Are you facing a challenge, but the beginning and the end seem intangible? You call in a consultant, but you can’t see the wood for the trees? Do you feel uncomfortable and insecure? The consultant offers solutions that don’t get you anywhere, while distractions distract your concentration?
Let’s take a different approach. We draw on the energy of the mountains and let our thoughts wander freely in the clear mountain air, far away from civilization. We relax and enjoy the moment and then the miracle happens: your thoughts fall into place and you begin to tell us what really moves you. We will ask you lots of questions about your descriptions, which will lead you to the roots of your challenge. We share our experiences, both the good and the bad, and their effects.
This Gemba Hike can replace or supplement an initial consultation and, above all, helps to explore a possible solution and decide whether we can support you. In short, we find out if our chemistry is right. And even if not, you will still have spent a wonderful day with a personal mountain guide in the Allgaeu Alps.
Work Objectives
- Enjoying the day: cycling up a mountain valley. Hike up a beautiful mountain. Taking in the weather and nature. Enjoy the view. Knowing after the descent that we have treated our body to something good. Gaining mental strength.
- Identify motivations: What and who leads to the pressure to change? What demands are there for a solution? What limits the path to a solution?
- Describe experiences: What experiences have you had so far? What approaches have you already tried? What are your biggest challenges?
- Exchange issues: What is hindering realization? What have you failed to do so far?
- Thinking about the future: Do you believe in a solution yourself? Do our services match your requirements? Does our chemistry fit?
Target Group
This workshop is aimed specifically at shareholders/supervisory board members and top management levels. We prefer to have a single discussion partner because this allows us to talk openly. With 3 discussion partners, we see the maximum limit reached in a group of 4.
Prerequisites
- No technical requirements.
- Openness.
- You need accommodation of your choice near Oberstdorf.
- You will need suitable mountain clothing and footwear depending on the weather and season. The shoes should definitely be worn-in. Backpack with food and drinks for a whole day. We suggest 3-4 liters of drinks. Telescopic mountain poles that can be attached to the backpack during the bike ride. Tip: light shoes for cycling. Headgear. Gloves in spring, fall and winter. If necessary, let us talk about equipment in advance.
- You can either bring your own mountain bike or arrange a mountain bike from a rental station in Oberstdorf. You can use a bike lock for the mountain from us. The starting point will be in Oberstdorf. We definitely suggest an e-bike because we will have parts with very high gradients. We cycle as high as possible so that we have to walk as few altitute as possible. After all, we want to be able to talk to each other in a relaxed manner. Incidentally, I’m not particularly well-trained and I’m getting on a bit, more of a slow but steady steamer on the mountain.
- We agree on a route in advance by phone or Teams that suits us both. We are guided by the seasonal weather conditions, the length of the day and our physical fitness.
- We will gladly sign an NDA for you in advance.
